Many years ago artist Fred
Marsters realized he was no longer satisfied with the direction he was heading.
Where he was going had no room for imagination and without it the joy to create
the unknown was missing.
Painting with oil on burled wood has given him the direction he was searching
for. Fred likes to think of wood burls in the same way as oysters in the ocean.
When they become irritated a pearl is created, only his ocean is an ocean of
trees and their burls become his pearls.
They are one of a kind, impossible to copy and some of them have a poetic story
written for them adding to their uniqueness.
The oil painted burl on the left titled "Troubled Waters" is an example of the
the great imagination and artistry in using the woods grain to create this
unique masterpiece.
We welcome you to examine the small example of oil painted wood burls available
for sale in the gallery at Saywood.
